COLD & HOT WORKS TOOL STEELS

HCHCR D3

This is standard grade of high carbon high chromium steels. High-efficiency cutting tools ( die & punches), blanking tools, woodworking tools, shear blades for cutting thin materials thread rolling dies, and pressing tools for ceramic.


Chemical composition

C - 1.85-2.15 %, CR -11.50-12.50% , MN - 0.35% MAX, Si - 0.25% MAX

Application

AISI D2 / KNL D2

This is standard grade of high carbon high chromium steels. High-efficiency cutting tools ( die & punches), blankins tools, woodworking tools, shear blades for cutting thin materials thread rolling dies, and pressing tools for ceramic.

Chemical Composition-

1) AISI D2 / DIN 1.2379

C - 1.55-1.65 %, CR -11.50-12% , Mo- 0.75 %, V - 0.80-1%, MN - 0.35% MAX, Si - 0.25% MAX

2) HCHCR D2 / DIN 1.2601

C - 1.55-1.65 %, CR -11.50-12% , Mo- 0.65 %, V - 0.20%, W-0.5% , MN - 0.35% MAX, Si - 0.25% MAX

Application

High-efficiency cutting tools ( die & punches), blanking tools, woodworking tools, shear blades for cutting thin materials thread rolling dies, pressing tools for ceramic and cold rolls for multiple roller stands.

HOT DIE STEEL ( H-13 )

This is high duty hot work tool steel which is used to working under high temperatures.

Chemical Composition

C - 0.35-0.40 %, CR - 5 %, Mo- 1.30-1.50 %, V - 1-1.10%, MN - 0.35% MAX, Si - 1 %

Application

Dies and containers for metal tubes and rod extrusion; hot impact extrusion tools, hot shear blades, and pressure die casting dies.

C - 0.14 - 0.20 %, Si - 0.15 - 0.40%, Mn - 1.0 - 1.30%, Cr - 0.80 - 1.10 %.

Application

Highly stressed wear parts with medium cross section for automotive and general engineering applications, like - camshafts, bushings, & connecting rods.

C - 0.18 - 0.23 %, Si - 0.20 - 0.35%, Mn - 0.70 - 0.90%, Cr - 0.40 - 0.60 %, Ni - 0.40 - 0.70%, Mo - 0.15 - 0.25%.

EN - 353

C - 0.23 % MAX, Si - 0.35% MAX, Mn - 0.50 - 1.00%, Cr - 0.75 - 1.25 %, Ni - 1.00 - 1.50% , Mo - 0.08 - 0.15%.

Application

Highly stressed components of large cross sections for aircraft, automotives and genral engineering application, such as propeller shafts, connecting rod, crankshafts and landing gear components.

HIGH SPEED STEEL

It is a high performance steel with high hardness and good wear resistance properties. It is often used as a cutting tool as it can cut metal at very high rate than any other carbon tool steel due to presence of tungsten and cobalt that gives it much higher strength.

C - 0.85 - 0.95 %, CR - 4.20 - 4.40 %, Mo- 5 %, V - 1.15 - 1.25%, W - 6.2 - 6.4%.

AISI M -42

C - 1.05 - 1.15 %, CR - 3.85 - 3.95 %, Mo- 9.30 - 9.45 %, V - 1.10 - 1.20%, W - 1.40 - 1.50%, Co - 7.80 - 7.95%

MOULD STEEL P-20 TOOL STEEL

P-20 STEEL is a pre hardened high tensile tool steel which offers ready machineability in the hardened and tempered condition, therefore does not require further heat treatment . This eliminates the risks, cost, and waiting time of heat treatment thus avoiding the associated possibility of distortion or even cracking. Subsequent component modifications can easily be carried out. Sizes: P-20 is available from stock in round bar, flat bar and plate. Applications: Plastic moulds, mould frames for plastic moulds and pressure casting dies, recipient sleeves. Grades – 1.2311 & 1.2378.

EN Series

EN-8. Crank shafts, automobile axle beams, connecting rods, Lightly stressed gears. Generally used for moderately stressed parts of Motor Vehicles and general engineering works.

• EN-9. Crank shafts, Cylinders, Gears, Sprockets. Mainly used in machine parts which require moderate wear resistance.

•EN-19. Axle shafts, Crank shafts, Gears, Connecting rods, Studs, Bolts, Propeller shaft joint. Suitable for heat treated parts where high tensile and impact are required along with high endurance bending strength.

•EN-24. Aircraft and heavy vehicle crank shafts,Connecting rods, Gear shafts, Chain parts, Clutches, Propeller shafts, Cam shafts, Spindles, Screws, Studs, Pinions, Tappets, Boring bars. Preferred to be applied for heat treated components having large sections and subject to exacting requirements.

• EN-30. B Application similar to EN-24 Steel. More Suitable for extra ordinary high toughness purposes.

• EN-31. Ball and Roller Bearings, Spinning tools, Beading Rolls, Punches and Dies. By its character this type of steel has high resisting nature against wear and can be used for components which are subjected to severe abrasion, wear or high surface loading.

• EN-36. Disc wheels, Grooved shafts, Cams, Gears, Heavy duty gears for air craft, Heavy vehicle and automobile transmission parts, General engineering works, Universal joints. Mainly used for highly stressed machine parts which are intended for cementation with high strength and core toughness.
